In 2019, Kelly was trained by Dr. Brené Brown to facilitate a Dare to Lead™ program. Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals. She also completed an ICF certified executive coaching curriculum and practicum.
Kelly has over 30 years of teaching, leading, consulting and training experience in public education at various levels. She started her career as a teacher, teacher advocate, assistance principal, Human Resource specialist and recruiter. She worked 16 years with the U.S. research, analytics and advisory company, Gallup Inc., as a Senior Consultant. In 2016 she founded the Horner Education Consulting Group.
She is a trained executive education coach working with school leaders on creating thriving, courageous practices. She is a strategic partner with district, school, and team leaders on developing the conditions to maximize the potential of the people and resources in the organization. She applies the principle-skill sets of executive coaching, strengths understanding, and daring leadership to create individual and organizational impact. She coaches’ leaders at the intersection of their unique strengths and talents, thriving wellbeing, courage and vulnerability in order to live and lead brave lives. Kelly has a special focus on women in school leadership in partnering to forge a new way of leading. She applies the principle-skill sets of executive coaching, strengths understanding, and daring leadership to create individual and organizational impact. Kelly is an experienced educator of over 30 years.
Kelly is co-authoring a book for women leaders in education with Dr. Kendra Washington-Bass, Executive Director, Leadership Development, Gwinnett County Public Schools. Kelly and Kendra use story to bring to life the challenges women education leaders at all levels face. They face head on the issues around gender and race.
